The Office | Decor Post

Even though we are hoping to move into a house soon, we needed to have an office space  in the apartment. I have always wanted some of these pieces and they will transition well into our new home. I wanted to share them with you, and why they were so important for the vibe I wanted in my work space.

Although I was raised poor in a single wide trailer, parked in the backwoods of West Tennessee, I somehow managed to find a love for fashion. I would stand in the grocery store and go slowly and carefully through the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and InStyle. It was the kind of art that I could actually see. I am not able to look at a Jackson Pollock and see art, but Chanel could speak to me. The texture and details of all the different designers, along with the interesting features of the models made me glow inside. I was in my mid-twenties before I ever got anywhere close to one of those pieces. When I was twenty, I worked at Hollister in the Mall at Millenia in Orlando. Down the hall was Neiman Marcus. I remember walking through the beauty department, seeing a Chanel lipstick and thinking how magical it must be to wake up and put that on to start your day. I was too scared to walk into any of the designer stores because I thought they could sense the poor in me, that they would know I didn’t belong there. This was all self inflicted crazy, and when I finally did walk in, the sales girls were always so nice to me and let me look at anything I wanted.

I think it’s important to mention here that I was obsessed with Carrie Bradshaw (weren’t we all?) and had attempted to start a blog all through my twenties. I just couldn’t figure it out. There weren’t many people doing it then and I for sure had NO idea what I was doing.  I have had a grand total of 5 blogs over the past 10 years. All fashion inspired.

Fast forward to today… I am so incredibly blessed too have gotten though nursing school (finally) and have a blog that is actually functioning and somewhat popular. I own the Chanel bag of my dreams, but still shop at Target and Walmart for clothes now and then. It’s important to chase your dreams, but never forget your roots. I feel humbled every single time I am able to buy a designer piece because I know that little girl at the grocery store would probably cry if she knew one day she would be where I am.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog, make sure to follow me on Instagram , YouTube and Facebook!!
